Matchy-Matchy

Ok, Jared asked Gabrielle to take this photo of us after church because we "matched," he said. (My skirt, his tie--big deal!) Let it be known that I was dressed first. This happens all the time. He will come out in the morning (not having even seen me yet) and he will be wearing the same color shirt as me or something. Then I will say, "What are you doing? Trying to dress like me?" You know what they say about people that have been married a while, start to look like each other? I guess in our case it's just dress like each other.

Biscuits by Madison

Madison made these delicious biscuits to go with our pasta Sunday night. The recipe is similar to the cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster. Thanks Madison, they were sooooooo yummy!

"Red Lobster" Cheese Biscuits

Preheat oven to 400°. Measure 2 cups Bisquick into mixer bowl. Add 2/3 cup milk, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until a soft dough is formed. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake 8 - 10 minutes.

Topping: Melt 4 Tbsp butter with 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp old bay seasoning (optional), 1/4 tsp kosher salt, and 1/2 tsp parsley flakes. Brush tops of warm biscuits with seasoned butter. Serve and enjoy!

Playing Ball With God

When I am taking the girls to school, I often hear these little commercials for a church here in Columbia where the pastor tells a short inspirational story. I really like them, but I especially liked the one today :

A little boy was heading outside and his mom asks, "Hey Son, Where are you going?" to which the boy replied, "Oh, I'm just going outside to play ball with God." The puzzled mother then asked her son, "Well, just how exactly do you play ball with God?" The boy simply answered, "I throw the ball up and God just throws it right back down."

How do you see our Father in Heaven? This little boy had such a great relationship with God that he saw Him as someone as friendly to play ball with. Someone he wanted to be with. Someone he trusted to catch the ball and throw it right back.

Thank our Father in Heaven today for being there for us and always "catching the ball."

Brrrrrrrrr

It was -5° when I put out our trash this morning. -20 Wind chill factor! That just reminded me of this Calvin and Hobbes cartoon:

Oh yeah, I hate that!
