In The Neighborhood

On our way to the Renaissance Festival, we passed the Kansas Motor Speedway. It was a race event weekend there. Gabrielle waved as we passed by and rolled down her window hoping to hear her favorite sound in the world (you know that racecar zooming sound). We did happen to see some cool planes fly over very quickly. On Sunday, They were hosting the Camping World RV 400 where Jimmie Johnson went ahead of Columbia, Missouri native Carl Edwards to win the race. Maybe next time, Carl!

Kansas City Renaissance Festival

Huzzah! Saturday we traveled to Kansas City and back in time to the Renaissance Festival. We watched the equestrian games, jousting contests, and other shows. We sampled some yummy festival fare, listened to musicians and looked around at all the beautiful crafts. The girls bought jewelry and enjoyed some games as well. The weekend's theme was the Feast of Canterbury which featured a chocolate festival. Gabrielle was sure to be in line for the free samples as Madison decorated a cookie and got to know the royals roaming around the festival. It was a fun day with beautiful weather and best of all, Dad was home to enjoy it with us.

Birthday Celebration

Last night the girls and I had a little birthday celebration for Gabrielle. We had her dinner of choice, Penne Alfredo and roll. My gift to her at dinner was that she did not have to eat salad. Madison waited on her and cleared her dishes, what a nice sister! Gabrielle always wants some sort of chocolate concoction for a birthday treat. This year she had a little three layer fudgey cake embellished with mint chocolate cookies.

Crikey!

I saw this picture and said to myself, "If I only had a blog!" So thanks to Jared for giving me inspiration. Jared has spent the last few weeks on hurricane response in Louisiana. Here he is with one of the locals. I asked if it was dead and he said if he wasn't he was taking a very sound nap! It is a good thing he loves his work so much. He is gaining new knowledge and experience working flood claims. Meanwhile, the girls and I are holding down the fort here in Columbia. We miss You Jared!! If all goes as planned he will get to come home this Thursday for the weekend and then leave Monday morning to go back to work in Louisiana for another few weeks.
