Birthday in Paris

Here is the latest cake-- a birthday in Paris-- for Samantha's 6th birthday. It was definitely worth the effort for her reaction when she saw the cake,  "AWESOME!" Happy Birthday, Sami! Bon Appetit! 

I used these cute dimensional stickers to add the Paris elements!

Guitar Cake

While Lisa, Brycen and Mitchel were here we celebrated Brycen's birthday a little early. We asked him what kind of cake he wanted and came up with this guitar cake! While it is not the exactly the perfect replica, it was pretty cool. The handle is rice krispie treats covered in fondant and the main part is chocolate cake. Of course, we had to have Brycen "autograph" his guitar with the edible marker pen.

Christmas 2010

The holidays at our house were "snow" much fun this year. 

We had our annual holiday cookie open house the Saturday before Christmas.

I made these little mice cookies, among others!

Ike kept sneaking mice and taking them into Gabrielle's room to play with them! So cute!

 

 

 

 

 

A beautiful snow fell on Christmas Eve, making for the ideal Christmas morning!

Christmas night Lisa, Brycen and Mitchel arrived. We had dinner and then opened presents. Then we made skillet brownies for dessert. This began a week of cooking and baking almost non-stop! Throughout their stay we made Crock-pot Southwest Chicken, Ham, Turkey and all the trimmings (including homemade rolls), Jared smoked chicken, brisket, and pork shoulder for pulled pork, we also made baked ziti and homemade French bread. Lisa even tried out her new waffle iron that she got for a Christmas gift. On one of the last days they were here, we made Brycen's birthday cake-- a little early--his birthday is January 8th. I'll do a separate post for his autographed guitar cake! 

On the day I was cooking the Turkey and making pies with Madison, Jared took Gabrielle, Brycen, Lisa and Mitchel out to enjoy the snow at Stephen's Lake Park sledding hills. The snow was beautiful and sparkly that day!

The other days (and nights) were filled with lots of game playing (including Rook marathons!) movies and playing the Wii. I wish I would have got more pictures! We had lots of fun, food and family time! We loved it all! Thanks for coming, kids!

MU Grad Cake

Well, it was a crazy week last week and in between our Relief Society Christmas Social and our own Holiday Cookie open house, I did this cake for the very awesome Aaron J. He wanted the cake just like Margie's, but with the MU tigers twist. Congratulations! You did it!

Super Cake

For my brother Karl's birthday, his wife requested a Superman cake-- We drove into Tulsa on Wednesday and started baking that night. We decorated all Thanksgiving morning. Then we went over to their house for Thanksgiving dinner and birthday party, complete with Jupiter Jump (for the "kids"). I forgot my camera-- but luckily Gabrielle took a few pictures on her i-touch of the cake construction. Jared was the real super hero, cutting that superman logo out of the red fondant!

I have to say, I am pretty excited about this announcement! Royal engagement fever is abound. I for one will be tuned in to watch, just like I did to watch Charles and Diana. I know, I need to get a life. But I just love this stuff!
